You may remember back a few weeks ago, when I posted a blog about the shelter that saved the Baz's life twice. They were entered in a contest to get $10,000 dollars of donations matched by another organization.

Well, to everyone who donated, THANKS! They ended up raising $20k and getting an additional $10k matched. Here's the email that they sent to me:

We wanted you to see some of the faces that were saved today because of your generosity. Their final journey will not be to a gas chamber. Their life will not end on a cold metal table surrounded by strangers. Because of you they have a chance, because of you they have LIFE.

Eleventh Hour Rescue would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped our rescued furkids thru the Six Degrees challenge. Because you chose to make a difference we raised over $20,000 and we are going to receive a matching $10,000 grant for placing in the top six. This money not only allows us to continue to care for the dogs in our rescue program but it also allows us to continue our mission of saving wonderful, highly adoptable companion animals in kill shelters; animals whose only crime is they are out of time. Many more lives will be saved because of your kind and giving hearts.

The success of this challenge attests to our power as a community and the importance of animal rights.. We have done something truly incredible. We have been the voice for those who can not speak for themselves. We created change. In 25 days, we raised over $30,000 for what we believe in! We will continue to change the world, one life at a time.

Unfortunately many more lives will be lost because of the enormous pet over population problem. Please consider continuing your support of our efforts by making a small monthly donation of $10 thru Six Degrees to our charity. It will literally make the difference between life and death for other poor souls who end up in kill shelters by no fault of they own.

From the bottom of our hearts we thank you for caring... we thank you for saving a life today.

Till all the cages are empty...
