From working at the vet and having a private vet spend at LEAST one day a week with us for months (when Jesse was sick) the feedback I got was MAKE YOUR OWN FOOD PEOPLE.. of course I've never done it and Ivy gets dog food.. but basically making them boiled chicken, boiled veggies, rice etc is supposed to be soooooo much better.. lots o work but definitely more healthy!

there's even recipes for pets with special needs. But as always home made food is just healthier.

Mine get a high quality dog food with chicken or leftover meat mixed in. If I'm out of meat, I'll give them a little bit of grated cheese. Anything but canned dog food. Although Natural Balance (I know, I keep preaching that brand) makes a line that's made in the same plant as people food. There's nothing in it that I wouldn't eat. The Irish Stew looks and smells just like Dinty Moore, but without the salt. I've actually seen other people (yes, plural) who preach the brand eat it to prove their point. Or there's always a ready-made frozen raw food diet. I used to have Auggie on it because it stopped his throwing up problem, but it was too hard to clean up after him.

I will have to tell my sis about this book. She just spent $1200 on her dog because blood was coming out of both ends. The vet could not figure out what caused her to get so sick. This was just right before the recall. She had fed her canned Iams food. After the news broke she looked at the can and it contained wheat gluten. My sister this past week has cooked for her doggie. She told me she ate $20 worth of chicken in 2 days. She has a large baby!!

Wellness makes a great food for your animals. They even have frozen raw food you can buy for them.

Yeah I'm so not one of those people that pampers pets like they're human.. but at the same time I DO believe in feeding them healthy food.. canned dog food is so bad, bleh. Our last vet told us about how she went to a canned dog food factory and she said it was horrifying and SICK what they put in there

Yes she is fine now. She got her staples out yesterday. They did surgery, all kinds of lab work and never could figure out why she was throwing up and pooping blood. They just knew it was something she ate. She spent 6 days at the vet. My sister brought her home and the next day the news broke about the food. So they are pretty sure that is what caused her problems. Thank goodness she did not get enough in her to kill her.

I've never made Dog food!!My Lab is picky about what he eats.
He eats Purina!!

My cat was just like that Hope. She wouldn't eat ANYTHING but her Purina cat chow. A cpl of times I tried to get her to try something different and she'd scratch me to death until I put what she liked in her bowl. She was so sweet!

my kitty wouldn't drink any milk or eat canned food. She only liked her Cat Chow and water. Dude and she was lean and mean, a slap from her would really hurt. I always had scratches in my hands but I loved her b1tchy self hahhaaa

She's a picky azz eater too, she wont eat canned or drink milk.. she only likes hard food and LOVES peanut butter.. which I share with her once in a while if I'm eating it
