There is something tragicomic about a dog in a sombrero. Dogs have a natural way of telegraphing self-defeat with their dumb, mournful eyes, & the addition of a well-considered costume nicely punctuates that expression of exhausted surrender. Take a square look at this boston terrier & you’ll receive its psychic communication with crystal clarity: ‘I used to run wild, and rule the earth,’ its eyes insist. ‘I chased down anything smaller than me, and several things much larger. I was feared, free, murderous. So, how did I end up in a striped diaper?’ The psychological implications of a dog in costume might be horrible if they weren’t so completely adorable.

Will you dress your pet up in a costume? And, tell us below what he/she will be!

I think Yoshi is going to be a panda, but I don't know what the other dogs will be yet. Laz has a skeleton costume already, but I would like to make them all a theme!
1No, I don't think Maddie would let me...but I would if I could!
2Our dog park has a costume contest every year. I'd love to dress them up as an angel & a devil and have them win themselves a prize, but my husband forbids it. I understand, but they're pretty nice prizes. Last year the winner dressed her poodle up as the bride of Frankenstein.
3I want to dress my Little Pucca but I haven't buy a costume yet

Our dog park has a costume contest as well. This year, Basil is going to be a World War I flying ace, like Snoopy.
5Samson will be wearing his costume (a skeleton) whether he wants to or not. This is the first year I have had him at Halloween, so we'll see when I put it on him whether or not he will rip it to shreds. I'm predicting he will though.
6Ahem. I don't know whether or not we will. I saw a hilarious lobster costume at Target, but Bug absolutely hates wearing clothes. So, I don't think we'll actually get it.

That really is a great description. They should give that guy a raise. The image of Bug
skulking around the woods looking for innocent trick-or-treaters is too awesome.
8I think thats probably what the Boston Terrier believes in his mind, not the actual facts... I feel like thats how my pug thinks too...
9If I had a pet, I certainly would, they look adorable!

11no. my dog would rip the costume apart in a second.
12I don't usually dress my yorkie up for Halloween but she does get tortured multiple times throughout the year when we make her wear dresses, sweaters, or shirts.

13No, not this year..but if I did, I would get a lobster costume for Halo (I think it would be perfect here in FL. Plus, the fishing rodeo is going on all this month..like it does every October.) But, we don't have any trick-or-treaters..all the young couples with children don't live here..only the young without children and the people over 60 years old are here.
It would be cool to go to a costume party..I could be Ariel (sp), from the Little Mermaid, Halo could
be Sebastian and the hubby could be the Prince.
Or, I could wear
my Bo Peep costume and Halo could be a sheep. I'm thinking about this way too much.
14I would if 1. Ivy lived here (dernit..) and 2. she would hold still.. We tried putting a Christmas outfit on her last December and it was a disaster hahahaha
